First ISU-Train between Wels and Curtici

With reference to our news from the 20.12.2010 we are glad to inform, that on the 25.01.2011 started the first ISU train between Wels / Austria and RailPort Arad container terminal in Curtici, operated by ÖKOMBI (Rail Cargo Austria Group).

The ISU system is developed by ÖKOMBI for lifting and carrying on train non-cranable semi-trailers (Innovative Semi-Trailer Handling Unit, Innovativer Sattelauflieger Umschlag).

New departures in cooperation between Trade Trans Group and PKP CARGO S.A.

With reference to our news published mid-December, we’d like to inform about important decisions regarding further cooperation between Trade Trans Group and PKP CARGO S.A., that were made on the 4th of January 2011.

Firstly – holding company Trade Trans Invest, a.s. obtained from PKP CARGO S.A. 49 % of shares in newly founded company PKP CARGO International, a.s. in Bratislava.

Ökombi launched new intermodal block train between Arad and Wells

Below we present an article from Verkehr, a weekly Austrian Transport & Logistic Magazine, issue 5, December 2010 about new intermodal railway connection that was launched between Arad, Romania and Wells, Austria. The service uses a system of innovative semi-trailer transhipment that allows switching transportation from non-craneable semitrailers to the railways.
Rail Port Arad/Curtici managed to received thus further long term contract.

We congratulate RailPort and wish them next contracts in the New Year 2011.

"PKP Cargo International" founded in Bratislava

We present the following information from the website of PKP CARGO SA on the creation of a new company for international transport.

The company PKP CARGO International has been created

At the end of November this year, the company PKP Cargo International located in Bratislava was formed. The founder and owner of 100 percent of the Company's shares is PKP CARGO S.A.

PKP Cargo International will deal with the organization of rail transport and rail freight in Central and Eastern Europe, particularly in countries such as Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovenia and Germany.

In the first phase of operations, rail transport will be carried out using local carriers. Ultimately, the company is to have the function of the rail carrier, by obtaining a license to carry out transport operations and through the acquisition of local carriers.

The company will focus on the realisation of rail transport in international relations, in which the locations of consignment dispatch and receipt are outside the Polish borders.

Eventually, PKP Cargo International will be a joint venture of PKP CARGO and foreign partner from the logistics industry. After the planned acquisition of shares by the partner, PKP Cargo will own the majority block of shares in the Company.

PKP Cargo International will be equipped with rolling stock. In 2011, it is planned to make contribution in kind of rail cars by PKP CARGO to the Company, which are now currently undeveloped and generate substantial costs. Financial means for repair and modernization of wagons will be contributed by the foreign partner.

According to the plans, the company can transport several million tons of cargo annually in the coming years.

The Board of Directors consist of two persons - Karl Meglitsch has been appointed the company's CEO, a current board member of PS Trade Trans Sp. z o.o., and the board member, Grzegorz Fingas, is currently the director of commercial office - the market of steel and solid fuels in PKP CARGO S.A.

New reachstacker already in RailPort Arad

On October 26, 2010 we informed about acceptance test for a new reachstacker for RailPort Arad (RPA). The machine has just arrived in Curtici and we got some detailed information about the investment.
After RPA issued a tender in the beginning of this year for a new reachstacker, the manufacturer was chosen in spring. Four major companies made offers, and after carefully analyzing the technical parameters, the optionals and of course the price, the contract was signed with Konecranes Lifttrucks AB Sweden.
