First ISU-Train between Wels and Curtici

With reference to our news from the 20.12.2010 we are glad to inform, that on the 25.01.2011 started the first ISU train between Wels / Austria and RailPort Arad container terminal in Curtici, operated by ÖKOMBI (Rail Cargo Austria Group).

The ISU system is developed by ÖKOMBI for lifting and carrying on train non-cranable semi-trailers (Innovative Semi-Trailer Handling Unit, Innovativer Sattelauflieger Umschlag).

The preparations began already in November 2010 when Mr Istvan Wagner from the firma RailPort Arad visited the terminal in Wels and learned about this system for the first time. And finally on the 25.01.2011 late in the evening the first train arrived (empty wagons to be loaded with Gartner semi-trailers with 45’’ boxes for the way back). The crane drivers and the field workers had thus a training with the new equipment.
According to the plans the traffic will be of one pair of trains per week for the beginning. The arrival in Curtici is on Tuesday evening, and the departure is on Thursday night. We hope this will be a regular train and thus will mean an important step in increasing the traffic of the terminal.

RailPort Arad-workers would like to propose a vote of thanks to all who offered assistance during launching of the new connection, in particular to Mr. Erich Possegger (RCA), Mr. Gernot Graner (ÖKOMBI), Mr. Gratian Calin (Rail Cargo Romania), Mr. Eugen Tudor (TT Raillogistics) and Mr. Zoltán Horváth (Rail Service Hungaria).
