Ekol Logistics is extending its fleet in Romania

Ekol, one of the biggest integrated logistic service providers of Turkey and also on European level invested 4,5 million euro buying 50 Volvo trucks, model FH12. The project for extending the fleet is part of the general integration strategy for the intermodal route on the Arad-Worms-Trieste railway stretch. The company is the sole logistic operator providing services on the railway between Arad and Worms (Germany). With using this railway route Ekol is saving 1250 km of road transport taking into consideration the whole distance on the Turkey – Germany stretch.

Further plans of the Ekol strategy also applies to Trade Trans container terminal in Curtici. Although container traffic is still under development, there are already three pairs of trains per week with semitrailers running between Worms and Curtici.

Ekol Logistics is extending its fleet in Romania

Ekol, one of the biggest integrated logistic service providers of Turkey and also on European level invested 4,5 million euro buying 50 Volvo trucks, model FH12. The project for extending the fleet is part of the general integration strategy for the intermodal route on the Arad-Worms-Trieste railway stretch, and will end late May. The new trucks have 13 liter engines of last generation, according to the Euro5 norm, of 450 HP. Related to this investment, Ekol will employ 70 people in Romania.

Ekol Logistics announced in the near past the including of Arad on the intermodal map. The containers will arrive by train in Arad on the import route, are loaded on trucks with Romanian plates and transferred to the port of Constantza. Here they are put on ferryboat and transported to the port of Pendik, near Istanbul. Regarding the export route Turkey-Europe, the containers will leave Pendik on ferryboat, and will arrive in 12 hours in Constanza. From here they will be taken by trucks to Arad, where loaded on the Ekol trains.

"The 4,5 millions of euro are a part of the investment project announced last year for Romania, in total amount of 10 million euro. With this investment we are consolidating our intermodal lines, and we are also contributing to the improvement of the transport services in Romania and in the neighboring countries", Tayfun Oktem, CEO Ekol Logistics declared. Having a substantial experience in multinational companies, Tayfun Oktem recently took over the position of CEO at Ekol Logistics.

Ekol announced in the beginning of this year the implementation of a new intermodal transport service. The company is the sole logistic operator providing services on the railway between Arad and Worms (Germany). With using this railway route Ekol is saving 1250 km of road transport taking into consideration the whole distance on the Turkey – Germany stretch. Using the new fleet the frequency of the intermodal transport will grow, and two Ekol trains per week will start on the route Arad-Worms.
